One of Ella's preschool teachers came over for a little visit last week; she gave Ella a special school bag and a "Friends Book" with all her classmates' names and phone numbers in it. She was very shy during the visit, but was thrilled with the gifts. I know she will be fine at school, and really, it's only a few hours three mornings a week, but I am a mess about it! How did she become this little girl before my eyes? She is thoughtful, caring, unfailingly protective of her siblings and just such a delightful person. I am going to miss her so much. I am realizing I am slowly losing my status as A#1 person in her life. This is a mother's rite of passage, to be sure, but that knowledge isn't comforting. As she enters the beginnings of the academic world, I hope she finds ways to stay the confident, good and sweet person she is. And finds a friend to sit by at circle time!
