Kemper Campout (a little late)

The 2nd Annual Kemper Campout was a success! Early September brought a crisp, sunny weekend for a bunch of my mom's side of the family to gather at my Aunt Mary's lake home for a family campout. (Although, to be fair, this year our family didn't camp -- too chilly! We "camped" in Mary's cozy loft; Paul and I were spoiled with a king-sized bed in which we didn't even notice Owen join us b/c it was so huge!!)

Mary had birdhouses for the kids to paint, and Grammy brought pumpkins. Everyone enjoyed working outside in the warm sun.

Plenty of goofing around with cousins, aunts and uncles.

Before the tasty grill-out began, Uncle Ron took us out for a pontoon ride. The wind was brisk, but the sun kept us toasty (that and our blankets!). The kids had endless attention from our cousins -- thank you! We had a wonderful time, and once the kids were asleep (which took about 10 minutes after all that fresh air), we enjoyed gabbing and joking around the campfire. Breakfast of fresh rolls, waffles, fruit and other tasties completed the weekend. Looking forward to next year already!
