Pigskin Treats and Other Things

Yes, I am still going strong with the football fare. Well, for the most part! I had that pesky laparoscopic surgery again last week, so I was exempt from duty for one week. (o: But before that, the Packers played Buffalo; we had buffalo chicken wings. Today we played Detroit, so we had a healthy meal of coney dogs and deep dish pizza. We're really having fun watching the game together though. Paul tells the kids which players/numbers to cheer for, and we eat and chat lazily, picnic-style on the floor. That was the goal (or touchdown, if you will).

As for a school update for Carmella: things are going great! She actually knew a few kids in her class (church, summer soccer) before we transferred, which helped quite a bit. And she has a new close friend named Sydney. This school is about 4 blocks past her old one, so really close still. Her teacher sends wonderful detailed notes home daily about what they did in school. She's been happy to go, and happier in general. Her sparkle has returned! A collective sigh of relief from our family.

My mom was just here for a few days to help out while I recovered from the surgery. Boy, was that nice! I slept and slept and read and slept. She did laundry, played with the kids, made meals, cleaned the floors and kept things humming. Thanks, Mom! Don't worry; Paul was quite busy doing more than his share, too. (o: Erica spent the day with me at the hospital for my procedure, and she was my amazing nurse-friend advocate. She knew exactly what to ask and which drugs I needed and even rubbed my tired feet. How did I get this lucky??? Thanks to everyone a million times over. God bless you.
