Every year my sister, Andrea, has a sledding b-day party at Afton Alps in WI, which culminates with dinner at a restaurant. We've always made it for the dinner, but this year we decided Ella was ready to hit the slopes with the grown-ups, and boy, were we right! She loved every second of it. I don't think the smile left her lips all afternoon.

Cousin Jill and I getting ready to swoosh down together. We had some awesome runs! It was neat for Ella to see the snowboarders, skiers and ski lift while we were there. The weather was cooperative, too... a balmy 35 degrees in the sun. Perfect!
Dinner later was in Hudson, WI, and a big crowd gathered to celebrate Andrea's 35th. My mom, dad, stepmom and Jill were there, so the kids enjoyed running from one table to the next. They also shared a HUGE ice cream sundae... and paid the piper the next day with tummy aches! Ah, the joy of overindulgence. Perhaps we should have given up sweets for Lent? (o:
