National Train Day: Itinerary
10:oo am: Papa and Nana arrive, and after the necessary hugs and kisses, we head to the MN State Fairgrounds to start the day with the Train Show and Sale.
11:30 pm: After touring and oohing and aahing over the cool trains and wares, we head home for a little lunch and R&R.
1:00 pm: Next up, the Twin City Model Railroad Museum, Toy Train Division. Man, does this place have cool train exhibits, all hands-on! We couldn't get over the one with the amusement park (see below); there were buttons to press so each ride/scene would actually work. Amazing.
2:00 pm: Walk to the museum's other building to see the model trains there... it's set up as St. Paul circa 1940. Such attention to detail!
2:45 pm: Finally finish the day with a trip to the Amtrack station to tour some "real" trains. The kids loved every minute of this day -- thanks, Nana and Papa!
P.S...Happy Mother's Day! Mine was spent in bed with an awful cold/cough... my family was as sweet as pie to me, though, and I am so grateful for them. (o:
