Backtrack to weekend

My mom was here for her birthday this past weekend, and we had a great time celebrating!
On Thursday night my cousin Andrea came over for Mom's birthday dinner, and Uncle Scottie joined us, too. It was "ita" night... fajitas, margaritas, I-wanna-eat-a... De-lish. After horsing around with the kids and playing our family's favorite card game, Runs and Sets, (which my sister joined us for), we called it a night.

Friday brought us all to the MN Zoo with my dear St. Olaf friend, Molly, her two little ones and her mom, Cindy. What an adventure! The kids couldn't get enough of the tropical fish, sharks, dolphins (one is pregnant and Nonie kept asking where the babies were) and otters. We let Owen run himself ragged, and quite frankly, he never looked back. That kid has no fear! Molly and I both commented on how nice it was to finish a conversation on a playdate... thanks to the grammies for all the kid help! Later that night the guys went to play some poker while we stayed up and watched "Mamma Mia." An awesome feel-good flick!

Saturday brought us a scrumptious lunch at my sister's, followed by an afternoon of window shopping in Uptown Minneapolis. Paul stayed home with the kidlets and we shopped 'til we dropped! Oh those kitchen stores and bookstores... my mom goes gaga. Back at home, we ordered in Italian Pie Shoppe for dinner (their deep dish rocks!!) and played more cards.

Sunday brought church and Ella's first visit to Sunday School without me. She did great! Of course, Pig was with her every step of the way. Since that was going well, I thought I'd give Owen a try in the nursery sans moi. No such luck! I'll try again next week. Our friends Pete and Jessica hosted their yearly Superbowl Party, and there were seven kids ages four and under in attendance. It was awesome... so neat to see our kids all grow up together. We're lucky to have these UST friends so close. Pete and Jessica change the menu every year to cater to the teams that are playing, so this year we had Tex-Mex for AZ and Klondike bars for Pittsburgh. Yum-o!

(After three failed attempts to post still photos, I will have to try again later. Grr!)

  1. Is it me or does Nonnie look like the seal??? Both are adorable! I can't wait to get that giggle button again!
