When Daddy's Away, The Rest Will Play!

Paul had a fantasy football draft this afternoon, so the kids and I set out on a little impromptu adventure. The weather was perfect -- sunny, yet cool -- so we packed up the stroller with hats, water and a snack and headed out for a stroll. As many of you know, we live about four blocks from the entrance to the MN State Fair (which started on Thursday -- loads of traffic!). Near the main entrance are many food booths selling their wares, so you don't even need to enter to the fair to eat some of the goodies! Therefore, our first stop on out journey was for mini donuts. Delicious! The kids loved them as much as I do!Next stop, Como Town: the amusement park next to the Como Zoo. I let the kids pick two rides to try; they chose this horse and carriage one, as well as the old standby choo-choo train. They looked so big today on these rides alone. I still can't believe Ella starts school in two weeks.

Train ride fun!

Since the zoo was so close, we walked through for awhile to check on our favorites: giraffes, monkeys and sea lions. Overall, it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon, though we all missed Paul.

  1. What a fun day and nothing like a little sugar to get you started for the day! We ate a bunch at the fair too!
