Our State Fair is a Great State Fair

September 1 we headed to the MN State Fair. We didn't go last year for a variety of reasons, but #1 would be that I really dislike crowds. The kids were begging to go this year, as we live so darn lose we can watch the set-up for weeks. So off we went on a wonderfully cool Wednesday morning. And guess what? It was awesome. Really tame groups of people; no running into people's toes and shoulders. The kids had a ball, and so did Paul and I! We ended up going back in the evening for a treat and the rodeo. Yeehaw! Bobo wasn't thrilled about the bucking broncos, but they all loved the lasso parts. My fair faith has been restored. (Doesn't hurt that I found the mini-donut stand early on... )

We went in every animal barn and saw many varieties of farm animals. The biggest hit? Sheep and chickens. Who knew?

A dream come true for pig-lover Carmella. I think this pic will be framed on her wall very soon.

The family ride of choice was the merry-go-round. (I opted to keep my food in my stomach and take pictures instead. Too spinny for me... man, am I getting old!)

Machinery hill was filled to the gills with tracors and mowers and combines and all things super-cool for kids. It was hard to pry them away from this area!
