Playmates

Lately we have been running around like mad people... seeing friends, having wonderful visits, but going, going, going. It seems that the days we stay home and just play are some of our best times as a family. It's amazing to watch all three kids play together. They fight, oh yes!!, but mostly just play, create and enjoy. I am in awe of these children Paul and I have the honor of raising. Ella and Norah especially are really learning about taking turns, sharing with their brother and working out problems without intervention. They can drive me crazy, and yet bring me to joy-filled tears even more.

Ella's new trick-up-her-sleeve is distracting someone who is crying with a toy, good news or a treat (even if means she doesn't get one). This morning when Nonie was crying, she reminded her, "Nonie, Nonie! It's going to be nice out so we can play outside today! And your birthday party is tomorrow!! Remember? Remember? Now do you feel good?" Love that! And Nonie is teaching Owen how to help clear the table after meals (and get herself out of doing the job!). But teamwork is teamwork. And I am grateful for it.

This last picture is of the kids in Bobo's bed after naps. Ella likes to climb in there when he wakes up and read to him, and of course Nonie has to join them once she crawls out of her nest. What is it about kids and cozy things? Blankets, pillows, stuffed animals... anything that gets them snuggly-wuggly is a hit. It is for me, too!
